it was a very pleasant place to stay with secure parking
Difficult to comment for such a short stay. Service for breakfast on second day was very slow, but staff were swamped by coach-party all requiring breakfast at the same time. Staff did their best, we felt sorry for their problem.
The room was clean and the staff were very friendly. The facilities in the room were good and I liked that you added some biscuits to have with my tea! The breakfast service the following morning was very good.
Very clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast served very hot and well cooked.
Only issue - there was no lift for less able guests.
location due to the proximity to wellington college 20 min walk. It was a reasonable price room, beds comfortable, check - in staff efficient.
Room allocated was not available when we arrived at 16 00.There was a staff shortage , but it was made possible for a room change on a different floor almost immediately .
The internal layout requires guests to go up and down flights of stairs to reach ground floor rooms.
Requested a twin room upon booking. Upon arrival told by reception no Twin Rooms available so they had put us into a Double. Fortunatly another customer who required a Double was told there was no Doubles available so swapped with us. In the room the shower was so hot you could not stand under it and the temperature would not adjust. We informed reception who said they would get Maintenance onto it. Upon the shower still being the same we asked again and they said that Maintenance do not work weekends so wont have fixed it yet, but did offer to move room. In our new room, after finally having a shower I was lying in my bed when the person from the room next door let themselves through the inter-connecting door, shocking both of us that there was a room without a lock on it. This door also was so thin so you could hear every movement of the other room through the gap.
As I had events to attend in the two evenings I was there it was nice to be able to get a quick, well cooked and inexpensive bar meal till 2245. The hotel was nice and quiet.
Very pleasant hotel, staff friendly, food excellent.
Went to hotel whilst forest fires were still burning, obviously hotel was hot and we had window open day and night. No problem, only to be expected......Except they tried to charge us £50...extra for being able to smell smoke in room. No one smoked in room but as we both had sore throats from smoke from fires we were not amused....................................................................................................................................................
A clean comfortable room with unfussy service
Stained carpets on the stairs and corridors and boring sitting and eating areas
Staff were friendly aND helpful
Rooms small and cramped, musty smell
Close to Wellington College. Parking free.
Carpets should have been replaced years ago. Decor felt tired. Hotel as a whole felt unloved and tired. The price was excessive for what the hotel is.
The Hotel is well located for my business FTP, clean and has good parking.
Wifi although free is very poor signal.
It was a close location to the Golf Club that we were visiting the next day. Service was prompt and bedrooms clean and Tidy.
It would have been nice to have a quiet seating area near the bar area. The bar was a bit pubsy. We sat in reception with out drinks on the cosy sofas.
The personnel were all very friendly. The breakfast was excellent value at seven pounds and delicious.
The hotel offered a daily newspaper but was unable to fulfil its promise and didn't seem to know why - this is an irritation and does not look good for an hotel that seems to be targetting business customers.
